To Have an Abundant Life

You only thought I forgot about this month’s free computer & phone wallpaper. Well, I haven’t, it’s just been a slow-go getting back in the swing of things after the holiday. Feel free to download any of the previous wallpapers here.

This month’s theme is Abundant Life.

I have come that you may have abundant life.

I’m not sure where we’ve come to believe that we are meant to live a “barely get by” life. Maybe it has something to do with words like, greed, selfish, pride, sin or camels getting through eyes of needles that keep us locked in a cage of lack, scarcity, and sickness.

Abundant Life

We hide our ever growing resentment toward our ever growing stack of bills under the blanket of I need to be more content.

We hide our anger at God for our constant pain in our body with a If it’s God’s will.

We hide our anguish of depression, anxiety, and fear behind the mask of my weakness makes Him strong.

We listen and embrace the voices whispering I’m not enough, I don’t do enough to please God, I fail at everything, I don’t pray enough, I don’t love others enough…

And the whole time Jesus is saying,

I have come that you may have abundant life.

Over the past two years, I’ve changed the way I look at what God wants for us. If he says he’s come that we may have an abundant life, then guess what he wants for us? Abundant life.

I had a friend say to me, “What about those living in desperate places, like Haiti? How can I justify living the abundant life here when there are people starving in Haiti?”

My response? They are promised an abundant life in Haiti, too. Right? Maybe their abundant life looks different than mine, but does that make mine shameful or theirs unacceptable? To a family in an impoverish environment, a roof over their head maybe what they need for an abundant life.

It’s up to us to decide what’s abundant for ourselves. We’re not meant to decide abundance for others, but we can demonstrate the possibilities to others. That being said,

the best thing we can do for others is live an abundant life.

To inspire them to live an abundant life, too. So? What’s an abundant life for you? More money than bills? Freedom from pain? Peace of mind?

I have a prayer that I’ve been praying for a long time, and now I’m going to pass it along to you. You can adapt it to your own life:

Ok, God, being broke isn’t an abundant life, and you promised an abundant life. So, I’m believing you’re going to come through with your promise. I don’t accept poverty. I am now living an abundant financial life, because of you.

Then, we stopped talking in terms of poverty, lack or sickness. We spoke in sentences like, We have plenty of money to pay our bills, I’m excited to pay this bill when the money arrives, I am healthy.

We didn’t dictate how God would bring the abundance. We just accepted it as Bible.

Here are the computer and phone downloads. Let them be a reminder that you are promised an abundant life. If your life doesn’t feel abundant in all areas, than it’s not a life you have to accept.
